The house has not changed in the last 15 or 20 years since the previous owners did a renovation & is the same as when we left nearly 10 years ago.
I am doing up the list of the to dos. One of the first things to do is the backyard. I want to keep the old garage & stable, NR would like to demolish. I keep thinking once it is gone that is it no more. What would you do?
The house has some very interesting design features like stripy floorboards. Not sure what to do here :S. We are not going to change the floor, maybe just add some enormous rugs. Have you seen this before, any suggestions?
The kitchen should I paint?
Now the move is over I am going to catch up on all my favorite blogs and posts which I have missed.
Hope you are having a great day!
KP
Glad to hear the move is over and you are settling in your new/orignal house :)
ReplyDeleteI'd paint the kitchen white but think the stripey floorboards look cool as they are :)
While researching about floor sanding/polishing I discovered that these days too people are getting stripes on their floor.
What condition are the garage & stable in?
B
Hi B, I will be getting some tips from you regarding the sanding. The garage/stable is very run down. We would need to replace everything. If we pulled down the council wouldn't let us build again. The structure is very close to the boundary. So I think it is worth keeping. KP
DeleteHello Miss K,
ReplyDeleteso good to read your post.
Hooray! You are now in Brissie.
One day we may meet :)
Wowzer - stripy floor boards hey!
Well the jury is out for me still - maybe I'll warm to them more.
I think the stable would be a perfect renovated cubby house for the children (keeps them away from your main space with play things).
Or Mr N might like to make it a play house for him - you know what ever it is those men have in them??
Have a wonderful day,

Hi Loulou, Love to meet one day. Great idea about a room for the kids. They love playing in the backyard so it would be an ideal getaway for them. KP
DeleteKeep it, keep it! The old stable would make a lovely studio/guest room. I've never seen floorboards like those, lovely. Glad to hear the move was smooth, the weather has been awful.
ReplyDeleteHi Simmone, I agree! Once it's gone that is it. Love to turn it into a studio. KP
DeleteCongrats on the move. Glad to hear you've settled, its such an enorous task! I quite like the originality of the stripy floors. Very unique! Love Lou Lou's stable ideas! I think it's always best to live in a place for 6 - 12 months to get a feel for it, the light, the aspect etc before doing anything. What fun!

Hi kl, The floors are very unique :S I have seen a couple of houses similar in the area, maybe it was a builder who was making a statement. We are starting to contemplate another reno. mmmm. KP
DeleteI think those floorboards could look amazing! I have seen so many beautiful striped floors and they can add so much character. Look at these houses:

I love the idea of a cubby house too and I definately agree with painting the kitchen. It will make a big difference!
